Certifications

One of my personal goals is to never stop. Stagnation means regression. Always keep moving, try to learn something new every day, try to be a better person than you were yesterday. This also applies to my personal career path. In general, it is very important to not only study the theory. Go out of the classroom and put your knowledge into real life. Try to learn things on the job while you are on projects and shadow your teammates or your superior. If you see a field of improvement, think about what can you make better.

Nevertheless, studying books, going to trainings or participating in any online courses never hurts (well, it might hurt your bank account sooner or later 🙂 ). Therefore I would like to list the most important certifications I have achieved in my cyber forensics career.

Certified Cyber Forensics Professional (CCFP)

The CCFP is published by the (ISC)². The CCFP credential indicates expertise in forensics techniques and procedures, standards of practice, and legal and ethical principles to assure accurate, complete, and reliable digital evidence admissible in a court of law. It also indicates the ability to apply forensics to other information security disciplines, such as e-discovery, malware analysis, or incident response. In other words, the CCFP is an objective measure of excellence valued by courts and employers alike.

GIAC Certified Forensic Analyst (GCFA)

gcfaThe GCFA is published by Global Information Assurance Certification (GIAC).The GCFA certification is for professionals working in the information security, computer forensics, and incident response fields. The certification focuses on core skills required to collect and analyze data from Windows and Linux computer systems. The GCFA certifies that candidates have the knowledge, skills, and ability to conduct formal incident investigations and handle advanced incident handling scenarios, including internal and external data breach intrusions, advanced persistent threats, anti-forensic techniques used by attackers, and complex digital forensic cases.

EnCase Certified Examiner (EnCE)

EnCEThe EnCE is published by Guidance Software. The EnCase® Certified Examiner (EnCE®) program certifies both public and private sector professionals in the use of Guidance Software’s EnCase® computer forensic software. EnCE® certification acknowledges that professionals have mastered computer investigation methodology as well as the use of EnCase® software during complex computer examinations. Recognized by both the law enforcement and corporate communities as a symbol of in-depth computer forensics knowledge, EnCE certification illustrates that an investigator is a skilled computer examiner.
